In an induction furnace, aluminum scrap is placed in a crucible held in the furnace and is melted by the inductive effect of electric power. In a few applications, pellets or liquid aluminum metal can also be charged. During the melting process it is also possible to add alloys. The frequency of the electric power used in the induction process has an influence on the behavior of the metal as it is melting. Modern furnaces work with a wide range of frequencies.
